Dynamis to perform the PSHA/site specific for the Etihad high-speed project

Sener hired Dynamis to participate in the seismic design of the Etihad high-speed rail project ail passenger train.

Etihad Rail was established in 2009 with the mandate to manage the development, construction and operation of the UAE’s national freight and passenger railway network.  With this in mind, Etihad Rail has decided to construct a high-speed rail system designed to connect the seven emirates and with the goal of making travel faster, greener and more convenient.

According to a recent publication, commute times will reduce by 30 to 40 percent compared to other modes of transport, and the rail system is expected to carry more than 36 million people each year by 2030 between 11 cities in the seven emirates.

Dynamis mission

Dynamis was tasked with performing the PSHA/site specifics for nine sites along three sections: Abu Dhabi-Dubai, Abu Dhabi- Al Ain, and Dubai- Sharjah.  The individual effects as well as the combined actions of the seismogenic sources have been estimated by means of a probabilistic calculation, to determine its influence on the calculation of seismic hazards at the sites taken throughout the various sections.

In order to obtain the design spectrum at the surface and taking into account the site effects, Dynamis performed a site response analysis in the study area.

Dynamis’s participation in the seismic design of the Etihad HSR project ensures a safe and secure design, appropriately considering seismic forces in the foundation along the metro line.
