Dynamis Attends 19th ASEP International Convention

On May 30th2019, the 19thASEP International Convention kicked off at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galeria in Ortigas, Manila, Philippines. The theme this year was “Structural Engineering for Infrastructure Resilience”, and the event was attended by over 500 engineers. Over the course of three days, several international and local leading engineers gave talks about various topics incorporating this year’s theme.  From disaster risk prevention to dampers, the speakers spoke about how to make structures more resilient.

This year, Dynamis’s Carlos Carames was invited to be a keynote speaker, with his topic consisting of Pile Design in Liquefiable Soils. In particular, he discussed about the new approaches that are being integrated into the new generation of Eurocodes, slated to be released in 2020, and how these new approaches and considerations will help to ensure that structures are more resilient.

The event was hosted by the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, and sponsored by international companies such as Midas and Hilti.

“Structural engineers play an important role in increasing the resilience of essential and critical infrastructures due to natural and man-made hazards. Although the major concern of structural engineers is to preserve the structural integrity of systems and physical infrastructures, increasing infrastructure resilience must also address organizational and ambient resilience to ensure the continued operational performance of infrastructures especially during extreme events.”  – 19AIC excerpt
